First job at the hut, scout the cliff path to the beach. Steep, slippy and in places ‘hairy’ too. Time to beach: boys 10 mins; adults 17.5 mins; Ewok 30 seconds.

“I see no ships”.

Except the dive boats above HMS Scylla .

A very proper walk. And good aerobic training going back up.

Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, when consumer Christmas starts and everyone goes shopping (except of course those that don’t go shopping). Apparently, it’s known as Black Friday after the crowds and traffic congestion experienced because of the excess of shoppers in Philadelphia in the late 1960s.

For our tradition, we walked down to the beach and threw stones at the water.

Which was fun, except Ewok couldn’t join in (he’s banned from the beach and can’t throw stones anyway).

This was the only non-muddy bit of the walk.

And yes, ‘twas a proper walk!

the gang requested a 'proper walk' so we headed off to beaver lake

definitely a wide variety in the quality of beaver impressions
(ranked roughly from left to right in this observation)

poorer quality impressions were rewarded by walking the plank
(or in this case, half a fir tree)

then a quick ride back to the clarkes for a luvly tea/supper where I was sequentially thrashed at WII tennis, ping pong and trickster hand shaking (yes, I'm talking to you Miss. H!)
